Download

TechPHA on your desktop.

The panel in its own window, with a dock or taskbar icon of its own, native copy and paste, and report exports saved straight to your Downloads folder. It runs the same TechPHA you use in a browser, so there is nothing to keep up to date. New features arrive as soon as we release them.

Get it

Version 1.0.0. There is also an iOS companion on the App Store for reviewing a study away from your desk.

Installing

These builds are not yet code signed, so both systems will warn you the first time you open them. The warning is about the signature being absent, not about anything found in the file. But you should not take our word for that, which is why every download has its checksum published below.

Signing certificates are in hand and the warnings go away once the next build is signed. Until then:

macOS

  1. Open the .dmg and drag TechPHA into Applications.
  2. In Applications, right-click TechPHA and choose Open rather than double-clicking it, which gives no way through.
  3. Choose Open again in the dialog.

You only do this once. If macOS says the app “is damaged and can’t be opened”, that is the same missing signature rather than a corrupt download. Check the checksum, then run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/TechPHA.app in Terminal and open it again.

Windows

  1. Run TechPHA-Setup-1.0.0.exe.
  2. SmartScreen will say the publisher is unknown. Choose More info, then Run anyway.
  3. Follow the installer. It installs for your user, not the whole machine, so it needs no administrator password.

Checksums

Confirm a download is the file we built. On macOS run shasum -a 256 <file>; on Windows, certutil -hashfile <file> SHA256. The result should match exactly.

What the desktop app adds

It is the same TechPHA, so your studies, plan and sign-in are exactly as they are in a browser. What the application gives you on top:

  • Its own window and icon, separate from the twenty browser tabs you already have open.
  • Report exports go to Downloads and the app offers to show you the file, rather than disappearing into a browser list.
  • The window remembers where it was between sessions.
  • Links open your study: a techpha:// link in an email opens that study in the app.
  • Nothing to update. The panel loads from our servers, so a feature we release today is there next time you open the app.

Requirements

  • macOS 11 Big Sur or later, or Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit).
  • A working internet connection. TechPHA keeps your studies on the server, so the app needs to reach it. Nothing is stored only on your machine, and nothing is lost if the machine is.
  • A TechPHA account. The free plan covers one complete study.
